BoB Chat — Privacy Policy

BoB Chat ("the app", "we", "us") is a Telegram client for mobile devices (Android and iOS) with an on-device AI assistant, published by Bob Tools LLP. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. The guiding principle is simple: your Telegram messages and contacts stay between your device and Telegram, and leave it only for the AI features you switch on.

What we collect

• Email address — when you sign in to your bob.tools account (used to identify your account and manage your subscription). This is the only personal identifier we store on our servers.

What stays on your device

• Your Telegram data — chats, messages, contacts and media are handled directly between your device and Telegram's servers (via TDLib). We do not receive or proxy this content on our servers, except for the AI features you turn on: the optional cloud AI model and remote control from a desktop AI client (both below).
• AI processing (on-device model) — when you use the on-device model, reply suggestions and summaries run locally through BoB Brain, and the content of your messages is not sent to us for these features. If you choose the optional cloud AI model, the messages needed to answer that request are sent to our servers (and on to our AI provider) to generate the response; they are processed to generate that response and are not stored by us. Our AI provider may retain API logs for a limited period for abuse monitoring under its API terms.
• Remote control (MCP) — if you connect a desktop AI client, the request it makes and the result your phone returns (which can include message text) travel through our relay so they can be delivered, and are kept there for up to 7 days before being deleted automatically; server logs record only metadata about the call (which tool, which device, size, outcome), not the content. Remote control is off unless you connect a client, and you can switch the relay off in the app at any time.
• On-device databases — AI chat history, AI memory and local caches live only in the app's private storage on your device.

Subscriptions and payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing (in-app on Android), Apple In-App Purchase (in-app on iOS), or by Stripe (on the web). We do not receive or store your full card details; payment processing is handled by those providers under their own privacy policies. In-app subscriptions auto-renew and can be managed or cancelled in your Google Play or App Store account settings.

How we use your email

To create and authenticate your account, to associate your subscription entitlement, and to contact you about your account if needed. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers needed to run the service (e.g. Google Firebase for authentication, Stripe for web payments). Data is encrypted in transit.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your email address for as long as your bob.tools account exists, and delete it on request. You can request deletion of your account and associated email at any time by contacting us at the address below. Content that passes through an AI feature — a cloud AI request, or a remote-control result your phone returns — is kept for up to 7 days and then deleted automatically; it is not used to build a copy of your chat history. Your Telegram data itself is managed through Telegram.

Your rights

Bob Tools LLP (England and Wales) is the data controller. Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the UK and EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you, and to lodge a complaint with the ICO or your local supervisory authority. Our service providers (e.g. Google Firebase, our AI provider) may process data in countries outside your country of residence, under the safeguards those providers maintain.

Children

BoB Chat is not directed at children and is intended for adults.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
