BobBrain Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Bob Tools LLP ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the BobBrain Android application ("BobBrain" or the "App"), distributed via Google Play under the package name bob.tools.brain.

BobBrain is an on-device AI assistant: language model inference runs entirely on your phone using Google's Gemma family of models. We have designed the App so that the contents of your conversations, voice recordings, and images do not leave your device for the purpose of inference.

1. Information processed entirely on your device

The following content is processed locally on your phone and is never transmitted to our servers for inference:

  • Your chat messages and the model's replies;
  • Voice recordings you make inside the App;
  • Images you attach to messages;
  • Conversation history (stored only in the App's private storage);
  • The downloaded model files themselves.

2. Information we do collect

We collect a minimal amount of information needed to operate the App:

  • Email address (via Firebase Authentication): Used to authorize model downloads from our distribution backend. Your email is processed by Google Firebase under their privacy terms.
  • Google Play purchase token and product ID (via Google Play Billing): When you start a free trial or subscribe to BobBrain Pro, Google Play provides us with a purchase token so we can confirm your entitlement. We do not receive your payment card details.
  • Anonymous request metadata: Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, user-agent) generated when your device requests the model file or model catalog from our backend. Used for security, abuse prevention, and capacity planning. Retained for up to 30 days.

3. Optional features that contact third-party services

Some optional Pro features explicitly send data to third-party services. These features are off by default and require your action to enable:

  • Web Search: When enabled, search queries you send (or that the model issues on your behalf) are forwarded to the Brave Search API. Brave's privacy practices apply.

4. Permissions BobBrain requests

  • Internet: To download the model file, fetch the model catalog, and (if enabled) make web searches.
  • Foreground service / data sync: To keep the model download running while you switch apps.
  • Notifications (Android 13+): Optional, requested only when a download starts. Used to show download progress.
  • Microphone: Optional, requested only when you tap the voice-record button. Audio is processed locally.
  • Billing: To process subscription purchases through Google Play.

5. Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We share information only with the third-party processors strictly necessary to operate the App: Google Firebase (authentication), Google Play Billing (subscriptions), Cloudflare (model file delivery), and — only when you enable Web Search — Brave Search.

6. Data retention

We retain your email address for as long as you have an active BobBrain account or subscription, and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle refund requests and comply with tax/accounting obligations. Anonymous server logs are retained for up to 30 days. On-device data (chats, voice, images) lives only on your device — uninstalling the App removes all of it.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@bob.tools.

8. Children's privacy

BobBrain is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. International data transfers

Our processors (Google, Cloudflare, Brave) operate globally. By using BobBrain you consent to your information being processed in countries outside your country of residence, in accordance with the safeguards those processors maintain.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above will be revised when we do. Continued use of BobBrain after such a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
